Broadview Westchester Joint Water Agency - Water Operator
The Broadview Westchester Joint Water Agency (BWJWA) is in Broadview, Illinois,
approximately 13 miles west of Chicago. The Water Operator reports to the Water Superintendent
under general direction, monitors and operates BWJWA's treatment processes and distribution
system to ensure compliance with regulations and operational goals and performs the daily
operations related to it.
This is a full-time position requiring response to call-outs after hours, on weekends, and holidays
as required. The Water Operator: is responsible for tracking, purchasing, and accountability for
maintaining the proper water treatment chemical inventory; reading meters; monitoring of data
contained in the reports for compliance with EPA and IEPA regulatory requirements; performs
any other job-related duties as required.
Minimum job requirements include: possession of an Illinois Class C Water Operator License or
must obtain a Class C Water License within 12 months of employment, possession of a valid
Illinois Driver's License, CDL not required but it is preferred, minimum 2 years experience in the
water industry; experience in electrical field to include knowledge and use of electrical and
electronic equipment, SCADA systems, electrical test equipment and troubleshooting electrical,
pneumatic, hydraulic and air operated equipment a plus.
Must possess proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Pre-employment screening includes
Criminal Background, Physical, Drug and Alcohol Testing and a Motor Vehicle Evaluation.
Safety sensitive positions are subject to periodic Drug and/or Alcohol testing in accordance with

• Salary: Up to $26.00 per hour, depending on experience. / Schedule: Holidays/Overtime/Weekends Monday to Friday (flexible) 8hrs per day.
